A History of//Front cover design

From the initial sketches i drew out to plan the front cover, i have decided on the one i want and developed that further experimenting with the layout of the item on the cover and the objects going to be actually on it.
The front cover is going to be made out of two stocks, a orange thin piece of card with mount board on top for the vw at the bottom this will be cut out of the mountboard to show the orange card through, also the side of the front cover will be the thin card.

Testing out the layout with a vw model. I didnt know which model to use as i thought the campervan models would add extra character to the front cover as there is more the outlined shape, but when i look at it, it doesnt say 'vw camper van to me and it represents the campervans implying it would be all about VW camper vans but its not.

I decided to go with the transporter (van) model as this is the model that everything was created from and used as the base shape, so it made sense.

Experimenting with different amount of objects on the front cover, i prefer the one with one object as the rest is too overpowering.

Different sized VW, but this is too big and doesnt look in proportion with the rest.

trying different models together.

the final model chosen.

The final front cover, leaving room at the side for it to be bound with the rest of the book. Im still unsure about the VW at the bottom because it doesnt look like one, so i am thinking i might add the detail into the outline to show the split screen.
